Roman Tarasov's first thesis was dedicated to typology of tropative.
To carry out proper research, he had to collect a lot of data about tropative in different languages.
Almost all the languages were processed with the method of elicitation, i.e. asking native speakers or advanced users to translate sentences from English, Russian, or, more rarely, Spanish, Persian or Ukrainian.
So far, 200 languages were processed. 186 of them are natural and there are also some constructed languages too. There is even Emoji in a database! There is also some information about 4 extinct languages.
Full list of languages is listed below.
Tropative is a grammatical derivation with a meaning "to consider smb/smth to be smb/smth" or "to be considered to be smb/smth" More info about different interpretations of tropative and explanation of the terms used can be found in a glossary
